As you know, we supply a variety of Eucharistic breads to parishes and communities in Australia and New Zealand. Today, we would like to highlight one of our popular Eucharistic breads.
Rev Dr Tom Elich, the Director of the Liturgical Commission in Brisbane and Parish Priest of Bulimba uses at Mass, the Communal Whole Wheat altar bread. For him, “the breaking of the bread is a powerful sign of our unity in Christ. So too the sacramental sign is enhanced if people receive communion from the altar, not the tabernacle”.
The Communal hosts have impressed lines for easy breaking into 24 pieces. This facilitates the counting of hosts required. The priest can then break a stack of Communal hosts together in one go. We become one body in Christ by partaking of the one bread. Fr Tom says, “Everyone receives a part broken from the common bread which has been consecrated at the altar at that same Mass. It is worth taking the trouble to make our sacramental signs speak eloquently of the sacred reality they contain”.
Our Communal altar breads come in whole wheat and white varieties.
